The virtual junkie’s guide to gaming’s drug spots

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City | Rockstar | PC, PS2, Xbox | 2002 If the virtual junkie could rely on anyone for a stonking great hit up the nose tubes you’d think the rebellious rabble at Rockstar would be perfectly willing pushers. But not so. Despite Vice City being stuffed to the stomach lining with powdery Prince Charlie, not a spec of it is ever insufflated by main man Tommy Vercetti. It seems even Rockstar knows that some lines shouldn’t be crossed. Or, indeed, snorted. But it’s not entirely bad news for your in-game drug devotee – some substance relief is supplied in the form of red and white adrenaline pills. Pop one of these little suckers and everything slows down, including the …soooooouuunnnd… effects. Furthermore, you’re briefly bestowed with superhuman powers, enabling you to push over parked cars and head butt hookers into the horizon. Click the movie below to see the adrenaline pill power punches in action. Strangely, though, the effects wear off the moment you attempt to drive anything. So you can’t get deeply emotional listening to Jan Hammer’s powerful 80’s classic,Crockett’s Theme, as your adrenergic receptors experience a state of critical mashdown.
